Hi all

ok, this is my attempt to delve into hockey sports betting... i plan to post my picks every day (that i can) and reasons why

ok day 1
record 0 - 0

Phi vs Maple leafs - not giving a definate pick on this one... it's a tough one... The leafs are 0-3 but two of those losses were to ottawa in overtime and the other was to a strong montreal club. They are scoring a decent amount... and ed belfour is a solid veteran in net. Philly on the other hand is 1-1... beating a strong devils team but losing to a rather weak rangers team. Philly has robert esche and an unkown goalie named nittymakki in net... esche is a solid veteran but i'd have to give the nod to belfour and the leafs in terms of netminders. Philly can explode for a bunch of goals if they are on.... but this toronto team seems to be a team that might be able to keep up with it. If i was forced to pick, id look for toronto to get a long needed first win

Senators vs Canadiens - wouldnt touch this game if i was paid to... The sens are 3-0 and are scoring well and winning alot... The canadiens are 3-0 also, and while their wins came against some lesser teams than ottawa... they beat the sens 6-3 late in the preseason (id pick the sens if i had to tho)

Blackhawks vs Blues - The blues are straight up sucking... lalime has been letting in an average of 5 goals a night...and while they have been able to keep games relatively close... when facing khabibulin... you cant expect him to let you score 5 times to make up for your shitty goaltending. I take the blackhawks... they can score enough to win relying on khabibulin to keep the blues from scoring alot

Coyotes vs Stars - Phoenix has been a huge dissapointment so far, although im not sure if they really have the talent they need to produce. They have scored 2 goals in each of their games... losing two games by one goal and the other game winning by a goal. Curtis Joesph was hurt in their last game and is out for a bit because of a groin injury. The Stars have been fairly successful, scoring at least 3 goals a game in their last 5. Arnott has five points in two games, and with the coyotes having a backup goalie in net, i think taking the Stars is an easy pick... this line will probably be in the -130 to 140 range too i think when its released... because i dont see any reason why the coyotes should win this game.

Oilers vs Kings - I go with the oilers here. The kings are 2-1... but their wins were against the wild and the coyotes... both by 1 goal. Their team just can't score very effectively, and while they havent let in too many goals... their goaltenders are both unproven based on the teams they have played against. Oilers have show ability to execute on the power play, are averaging 4 points a game... and have beaten some quality opponents in colorado/vancouver and anaheim.. The line isnt there yet... but i bet the oilers are getting somewhere in the -140 range

RESULTS

Sens - win
Toronto - win
Stars - win
Oilers- loss (they played better for first 2 periods, but fell apart and let kings 2nd goal get them out of their game)
Blackhawks - loss (I dont even know why this happened... 3-0 blues at 2nd intermission... while being outshot 3-1... lalime must have played great)

record 3-2

but of course i only placed 2 bets... on the fucking two games that i lost :(

Looking at the numbers above, one can try to guess at the value of a link from an external site.
