Capitals vs Hurricanes - The caps have been such an inconsistant team so far... they either play great or terribly...Ovechin is a force and has been playing great his first few games. The hurricanes on the other hand are not much better. They are relying on their rookie goalie cam ward to run their defense, and while their offense is fast and good at handling the puck, they really havent produced yet. Basically i think this game comes down to how Kolzig plays. If he plays great like he has done in the past, Caps have a chance, if Ollie the Goalie can't stop a basketball from going into the net, the Canes run away with it

Pick : Canes (not a strong favorite)

Atlanta vs Montreal - This game isn't clear cut either. Montreal just came off a loss to Ottawa last night, but the game was tied well into the third period. The thrashers scored no goals in their season opener, but have absolutely blown out the competition in their last two games. Add to this the fact that Ilya Kovalchuk shoudl be in lineup tonight... and Atlanta has a damn good shot of scoring 5 or 6 more goals. Mike Dunham has been solid in net so far, with the only loss coming in a 2-0 decision to the Panthers

Pick : Montreal i think can take it... if they can keep the thrashers out of the net

Vancouver vs Minnesota - I really dont even want to go into the reasons why this is an easy pick, but Naslund is hot, Bertuzzi and Morrison are playing great first line hockey, and in the Canucks win over the Red Wings monday night, the second line for the canucks finally began to click. Minnesota has two things going for them.... Alexander Daigle and their goaltender. other than that, what else do they have. They do have an impressive win over a good calgary team , but calgary has seemed to be stumbling so far this year. If Dan Cloutier can keep the puck out of the canucks net, the wild have no chance

Pick : Vancover (im afraid to see what the line is going to be on this game)

Predators vs Avalanche - This game is somewhat tough to call.... The predators are 2-0, but both games were 2-1 victories over teams that haven't been playing too well. The avalanche exploded for 7 goals the other night against the flames, who have a much better goalie than tomas vokoun. If the avalanche play like they did against the flames, this game could be a blowout. The predators have sullivan and kariya , but they can only account for so many goals

Columbus vs San Jose - Battle of two crappy teams. The sharks definately have the advantage in net with Nabokov compared to Mark Denis for the Jackets. However, besides a 7 goal explosion in a game they should not have even had a chance of winning against the blues, the Sharks offense has been relatively quiet. If rick nash (sprained ankle) plays tomorrow the jackets have a good chance of pulling the game out. I want to give this game to the jackets, but i don't think that Mark Denis has what it takes if San Jose can pour on a few goals like they did against the Blues and in the preseason... This game is a crapshoot, but i think i have to give it to the sharks
